BLACKWATER PLANT TRAINING
Practical telehandler training for new operators, experienced operators and employers arranging training for their team. Tell us your starting point and we will confirm a suitable NPORS training and assessment route.
Our training centre is at Thorniehall Farm in Coalburn. We have five instructors in South Lanarkshire, Ayr and across the Highlands, delivering training across the UK.
Our usual novice programme is 5 days. This is a planning guide; we confirm the schedule for your experience, group size and equipment before you book.
Experienced operator assessment and refresher durations are agreed after a skills discussion. A shorter assessment route is only appropriate where you already have the relevant operating experience.

Discuss your existing skills and any current cards. We will confirm whether assessment is suitable or whether further training is needed first.
Revisit safe working practices and address gaps in your skills. Bring details of your current certification and the tasks you carry out.
The agreed NPORS route includes theory and practical assessment for the relevant category. Certification depends on successful assessment. Before booking, we confirm the category, prerequisites and card route you need for your work.
If your employer requires a CSCS-logo card, tell us at enquiry stage so we can explain any additional requirements. Completing a course alone does not automatically provide every site-access qualification.
For telescopic handler or telehandler enquiries, describe the machine, attachments and loads involved.
Suspended-load work is a separate course option. Mention it explicitly so your enquiry covers the intended lifting activity.

Courses at the centre depend on suitable equipment and available dates. We can also discuss training at your workplace using appropriate machinery and a suitable training area. Specialist equipment and site arrangements must be agreed before booking.
An enquiry does not reserve a place or commit you to a booking.
